I ordered a NECKpro Cervical Traction Device from ActiveForever.com on 1/5/07 (with no indication that it was out of stock). Their shipping info page states that most orders received by 1pm mst are shipped the same day. I ordered at exactly 1pm mst so I figured it might not ship until 1/8/07 due to the weekend.
According to my account page it had not shipped yet on 1/9/07. I called their CS on 1/9/07 and they told me that the item was originally out of stock (back ordered without any notification) and did not arrive in their warehouse until the evening of 1/8/07.
They had put through a temporary authorization on my card on 1/5/07. I had used a virtual account number with a limit a few dollars over the purchase price. They tried to process the order on 1/9/07 and the card was declined because they were not smart enough to follow through with the original authorization, instead processing a new charge which went over the card limit. They told me that cards get declined occasionally after they had already been authorized. This is probably due to their stupidity in processing procedures.
I only chose to buy from them because they had been in business longer than the other company that I was looking at (protherapysupplies.com) and the delivered price was $2.98 cheaper. The shipping time was going to be two days longer, but I was willing to live with that.
I wish that I would have looked at the surveys here first because it is obvious that they pull the backorder stunt on a frequent basis and don't bother to notify their customers. This is a very poor way to do business.
I cancelled my order with them on 1/9/07 and immediately closed the virtual account number that I had given them so they couldn't try to charge me again. After that I requested another virtual account number and proceeded to order from protherapysupplies.com like I should have done in the first place.
