My unfortunate experience with AJ Madison has started today.  I will update this post as this experience evolves.

The ordering process was easy and seemed to work nicely.  The problem starts after your order, their customer service is just terrible and the delivery is company's unrealistic & unfair to the customer.

I live in Manhattan where receiving large delivery's must be coordinated with a buildings managment company.  At 5pm on Thursday the deliver company calls my office and leaves a voicemail that they are delivering the appliance tomorrow morning.  Apparantly they do not coordinate with you about delivery.  I have received many deliveries via a trucking company and never experienecd them showing up without a verbal comfirmation from the customer.

My aparment is under construction so there are workmen on site, the deliery comapny decides it is acceptable to leave $13k worth of appliances in the middle of a job site.  Now the guys working do not have room to complete my renovation.

The ironic thing is that I specifically told AJ Madison that I did not want shipment until the following week.  The sales guy did not note this on the account and now I am this situation.

I called AJ Madison and they said that I was mistaken and that they would never deliver without comfirmation.  Funny how they choose to ignore the problem and tell me it's my fault.  They say that I will receive a call on from a manager on Monday, we'll see what happens.

This is my second large appliance purchase. I should never have tried AJ Madison.  My first purchase was with Gringer & Son, http://www.gringerandsons.com/ this was a much better experience and I will use Gringer for my next appliace purchase.

UPDATE: March 28th
So now it is a week later and I still have not heard from AJ Madison.  Lucky for me my contractors were able to work around the appliances.  We still have them in the original boxes so I cannot confirm that they were delivered without damage.  I fully expect them to be fine except for the light bulbs for the hood; for some reason they sent these loose in a box and they are broken.

In summary AJ Madison is great to work with when your shopping.  However, once you place the order you are on your own.  Unfortunately they do not communicate with you & sometimes even miscommunicate.  Be careful working with them on your renovation, they are just not a reliable vendor.

Update July 7th
It has now been a few months and I have been having issues with the appliances from AJ Madison.  As it turns out the sales person from AJ Madison sold me a Natural Gas Oven and an LP Gas cooktop.  I have Natural Gas and ordered Natural Gas Appliances. The order was placed over the phone and Natural Gas was specified.  I am not sure what why they sold me two gas appliances that take different types of gas.  Clearly the sales representative was careless.

I have reached out to AJ Madison who is not acknowledging this error and saying that this should be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty/service plan.  They do acknowledge that they sent me a Natural Gas Oven and LP Gas Cooktop   I guess AJ Madison does not ever accept responsibility for their errors.

Be very careful working with AJ Madison, it is your responsibility to double check all the manufactures model numbers.
