EasyPivot EP-260 Lift -Institutional Use, Adjustable Base Lift Rand-Scot announces the new EasyPivot EP-260 Patient Lift - third-generation design - features crank adjustable width and height - intended primarily for use in the institutional setting. Except for the more expensive institutional EP-325 heavy duty lift, EasyPivot patient lifts are made specifically to the height and weight of the patient and has a fixed width and center column knee and chest pad adjustment. Now with the introduction of the EP-260 patient lift, the institutional user can benefit by having a less expensive adjustable lift that can be used by multiple patients with heights ranging from 4' 8" to 6' 6" and weights up to 330 pounds. The EP-260 shines because it features Base Width and Center Column Height adjustability by simply rotating two cranks. The center column crank adjusts the chest pad up or down from 30" to 38" from the floor. By turning the crank at the The lifter's base, the runner legs are spread out in a "V" to gain additional width from 25" to 37". The wheel width can even be changed while the patient is on the lift. The home user can also benefit from using the EP-260. For example, a patient can be removed from their bed or wheelchair, then the width can be narrowed to maneuver through doorways and or hallways, and then widened again to accommodate placing the patient into an easy chair. Once the chest pad is properly adjusted and positioned, the home user will normally not need to change it again. All four 4" wheels on the patient lift swivel to negotiate tight areas with ease. The front wheels feature Total-Lock which locks the wheel from turning and the caster from swiveling. Totally self-supporting, the EasyPivot's wide wheel base and low center of gravity make it virtually impossible to tip. The EasyPivot patient lift is so comfortable that many users "stand" for a few moments each evening simply to stretch out after a long day of sitting. Unlike conventional Patient Lifts that use slings and center point lift hydraulics or electric motors, the EasyPivot manually lifts the patient gently while he or she is in a semi-standing position. The machine is rolled in front of the patient while in a sitting position. The feet are placed on the footbase and knees are then placed in the kneepad troughs. A strap is then placed behind the calves to prevent leg movement. The lifter handle is then raised to bring the chest pad against the patients chest. The thigh strap is then placed under the patients buttocks and attached to lift on both sides. The caregiver, standing in front of the lift, pulls forward and down on the lift handles which raises and rotates the patient forward into a comfortable stooped over, standing position against the chest pad. A back strap is then attached to stabilize the patient over the chest pad. The patients own weight helps in the lifting process. The caregivers body mechanics are such that strain is minimized.
